Wang Ruowang
Biography
Wang Ruowang, originally Wang Shouhua, was a writer and political critic whose life spanned Nationalist and Communist rule.[1][2]
Wang entered left-wing activity in his youth, was imprisoned under the Nationalists and later joined the Communist Party in Yan’an, working in publishing and culture.[1][2]
RFA’s 2001 interviews with Liu Binyan and others recount punishment during and after the Anti-Rightist campaign and Wang’s advocacy for laid-off workers after moving to the US in 1992.[2]
Case Summary
In 1987 Wang was punished alongside Fang Lizhi and Liu Binyan during the anti-liberalization campaign. He was again imprisoned after supporting students in 1989.[1][2]
