Biography
Yue Xin graduated from Peking University in 2018 and engaged in campus information disclosure, anti-harassment and labor solidarity.[1][2]
Yue studied Indonesian at Peking University. In April 2018 she joined requests for information about the Gao Yan investigation and later described university pressure on her and her family in an open letter.[1][2]
CHRD describes Yue’s exchange study in Indonesia, exposure to labor history, rural sex-education teaching in Yunnan and 2018 writing on hukou and educational opportunity.[1]
Yue’s August 19, 2018 open letter to Xi Jinping and the Party’s Central Committee supported Jasic workers. The excerpt translated by CDT presents her purpose as seeking justice for those workers and rejects descriptions of the supporters as foreign forces or a student revolution. CDT also discusses her April letter describing pressure on her and her family after seeking disclosure of the Gao Yan investigation, and demanding a legal explanation and apology from the university.[2][1]
Case Summary
Yue was taken during a police raid on supporters’ accommodation on August 24, 2018. CHRD places it in Shenzhen and Dui Hua in Huizhou.[1][3]
Yue’s campus letter describes demands to delete material and stop inquiries, pressure on her and her family, and her request for an explanation and apology.[1]
Dui Hua describes related confession videos in 2019. CHRD’s later profile marks Yue released without listing a release date.[1][3]
