Description
CHRD dates the second RSDL to October 22, 2020, formal arrest to April 7, 2021 and the first lawyer meeting to September. It also reports obstructed file access and medical requests.[1]
The same profile locates both RSDL periods at Baoji’s Baotai Hotel. Chang described alleged abuse in his public video and later lawyer meetings.[1]
Chang faced a closed trial on July 26, 2022 and a three-and-a-half-year sentence announced June 8, 2023. A later lawyers’ update confirms release on July 8, 2024.[1][2]
Developments
First placement under RSDL
CHRD records RSDL in Baoji from January 12–21 after the Xiamen gathering. Chang later published a treatment account and was detained again in October.[1]
Detained again
Chang was again placed under RSDL after publishing his treatment account. The profile describes nearly six months’ isolation, formal arrest in 2021 and delayed lawyer access.[1]
Sentenced to three and a half years
A three-and-a-half-year subversion sentence was announced after a closed trial in July 2022 and prolonged earlier custody. The sentencing date belongs within that longer procedure.[1]
Released on sentence completion
Lawyers’ organizations record Chang Weiping’s release on completion of his sentence on July 8, 2024.[2]
